Objectives: This study aimed to describe association between change in daily life and perceived stress by using nationwide representative data to identify socially vulnerable population during the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Methods: The Korea community health survey 2020 was used to address the research questions considering complex sample design effects. To analyze the relationship between change in daily life and perceived stress, binary logistic regression was employed.
Results: Change in daily life was positively associated with perceived stress after controlling demographic, socioeconomic and health-related factors (OR=0.12, p<.0001).
Conclusions: In unpredictable and uncertain situation, restrictive measures to control COVID-19 and its spread have increased anxiety, worry, and negative mental health in the individuals and communities. The difference in resilience to stressful situations may be due to the differences in the individuals' defense mechanisms against internal and external situations. The results of this study indicate the need to support vulnerable populations for a smooth return to daily life during the COVID-19 pandemic and post COVID-19 era.
